International Medical Publishing Group (IMPG) was formed in 2004 as a result of the expansion of Kingscos Medical Publishers (KMP), an organisation whose history dates back to 1953.
Historical Background of Kingscos Medical Publishers
Kingscos Medical Publishers was established after the merger between Kingswood Scientific Publishers and Cosmopolitan Health Publishing. Kingswood Scientific Publishers was originally established in New York, USA in 1953. Its main target was to publish scientific books at all levels. In the 1970s, Kingswood started to expand its activities, especially in the areas of Medical Publishing, which cover Books, Guides, Journals and Periodicals. Hence in 1978, Kingswood merged with Cosmopolitan Health Publishing to form a new organisation called ‘Kingscos Medical Publishers’ with offices in New York, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and London.
Need for More Expansion
During the 1980s and 1990s, our medical publishing increased to areas of Medical and Healthcare Education, Medical Law and Health Care Research. Since the beginning of the new Millennium, there has been a need to increase our Public Health and Primary Care Publications. We also noted the expansion of our market in North America, South America, Africa and Asia. This has lead to the formation of more alliance with our counterparts in different parts of the world, contributing to the formation of the ‘International Medical Publishing Group’ in 2004, with a consensus agreement for the name to become operational to all our clients from January 2006.
As part of the agreement for the new merger, it was decided to expand the Development Fund that Kingscos Medical Publishers usually offer some of their clients, who need expansion, and to make it more widely available to other organisations. Hence the ‘International Medical Publishing Group Fund’ was established, which became operational from January 2005.
